More Predator Sans Alien in Our Future?
Tuesday, September 23, 2008
What Arnie wants, Arnie gets. At least that is what Bloody Disgusting is reporting from an interview with producer John Davis conducted by Collider. The muscle bound action superstar turned politician has expressed interest in getting back into movies, that is, if he doesn't attempt to move on to the Senate. The politics are not important, what is is the mention of a return to the Predator franchise.

Apparently, and this is pure rumor at this point, but I am intrigued by the possibility of Arnold Schwarzenegger returning to one of his biggest films. We all know that while the second Predator flick was entertaining, it was definitely missing something in he form of Arnie's presence. Honestly, who wouldn't want to see him attempt a celluloid return? I have no doubt it would mean big money. We only have to wait a few years.

That was not the only news to come out of that interview, it was also stated that the AvP franchise is dead, that "we’ve logically done what we could’ve done with the two AVP movies." Allow me to say: "What?" Surely he is either kidding or is terribly shortsighted in what could have been and still could accomplish with such a franchise, should the studio ever loosen the handcuffs. However, if this means no more movies along the lines of the two we got, I would not be disappointed.

All that said, I do not think we are done with either cinematic monster, and I know I am all for more big screen thrills featuring them.
